On March 8th 1960, the MV Plassy, with a cargo of whiskey, stained glass and yarn, was driven on to Finis Rock, Inisheer, in the Aran Islands. A further severe storm a number of weeks later, drove it on to the shoreline of the island where it remains to this day.
